An Update on the Development of Seahorse Saga
Hey everyone,
It’s been a while, huh? Two years since our last dev log posted here, and we haven’t shared much in that time. So, I wanted to be transparent with you all and share an update on Seahorse Saga, our development team, and the future.
In an earlier dev log, I talked about how this project began. A college project that went on to become a passion project our team worked on during our free time. (You can read more about our beginnings here https://seahorsesaga.itch.io/seahorse-saga/devlog/401782/discussing-our-beginnings)
Over the years, this stayed true. What didn’t hold up in that time, however…was our free time. Everyone on the team working full-time meant that their time for this project waned. Since we’re a small passion-project-focused studio, we never had the funds to support our team to work on this project full-time. Over time, this means that our progress has slowed down significantly.
Earlier in 2024, we set a goal for ourselves to get Seahorse Saga in a state ready to pitch for funding opportunities by the end of 2024. While we made significant progress toward this goal, our team couldn’t keep up. Juggling the project alongside many working overtime hours at their jobs, it was…draining, to a lot of team members. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet this goal.
All of this to say, my executive producer TJ and I have come to a difficult decision: we’re putting Seahorse Saga on an indefinite hiatus. We’re freezing development, and intend to return to the project later. While we don’t have a timeline to give you all, I felt providing transparency on the situation would be better than you all waiting for further development updates. We’re letting our team focus on their lives, and when we all feel like we can better handle juggling a passion project of this scale, we’ll come back to it.
Thank you all so much for the support over the years. I’m sorry that I don’t have more to share for now, but I look forward to when I’m able to share better news on development to you all.

Sad to hear about it. The project looked really promising!
